Gourmondo at MOHAI is a relaxed café experience nestled right next to the Museum of History & Industry, making it a natural pause for anyone exploring Seattle’s Lake Union area. The spot draws in a mix of museum visitors, locals strolling around the nearby docks, and workers needing a solid coffee break in a quiet setting.

The atmosphere here is calm and welcoming—more laid-back than bustling city cafés—with plenty of natural light and views of the water and historic boats just outside. It’s a perfect place to warm up after wandering the park or to settle in with a sandwich or salad when not too crowded. The friendly staff and consistent coffee quality—including a notably good Americano and a thoughtfully crafted iced coffee—make it a dependable stop during a day of exploring or meetings nearby.

For anyone who values a straightforward, no-fuss café that balances good food with a pleasant view, Gourmondo fits well into daily Seattle rhythms. Afternoon visits reward you with gentle lake breezes and a chance to unwind, while mid-mornings might be quieter for those needing focus time. The chicken curry sandwich and house-made chai stand out as more than typical café offerings, giving the menu a bit of a personal touch without being fussy.

Those who appreciate local energy spots that feel genuine rather than overly commercialized will find this place aligns well with the neighborhood’s maritime and museum vibe. Whether stopping by after a boat show, grabbing lunch before a museum visit, or catching up on work with a latte, Gourmondo feels like part of the Lake Union neighborhood’s everyday flow.

You know those places that you want to tell people about, but are afraid they will get popular if you do? This is one of those. The space is quiet and welcoming, the prices are great, the food is well above the norm, and the location can't be beat. Take a walk around the park and then stop in here to warm up. Visit the adjoining gift shop if you have time.

This was a nice cafe next to the museum of industry. They home make their chai and it was interesting but not bad. The latte was very good and well made. The service was very good. I like the atmosphere and location.

This place is pretty bomb—with tons of potential. First of all it’s my favorite good-energy spot to hang out in the city. Right near center for Wooden Boats and the old steamer ships at the mouth of Lake Union, I come here when there’s time to kill in the neighborhood, even when the cafe’s closed. Then there’s the cafe itself. Super-friendly genuine staff and a yummy sandwich/salad menu they make totally in-house, including Macrina pastries, spice blends and infused oils. The Moroccan roasted vegetable salad blew me away, so good I asked for the recipe which they gladly shared. Lastly, the potential. I admit, it has been disappointing when I’ve come down on nice summer evenings after work to grab a refreshing beverage on their open-air patio, only to be reminded they close at 5. Missed opportunity! This place would be THE spot if they had table service and light music into the evenings in warm months. Good news is, the manager here, Betsy, has totally clued into all this and been patiently clearing boxes and red tape behind the scenes to make this vision a reality. So my advice, check it out now, for lunch or on the weekend, while it’s chill before it blows up so you can say “I used to come here when....” :)

I'm familiar with this place because they have rooms that they rent out to nonprofit charitable groups and perhaps others. They had a remodel during the pandemic which improved the general space and also gave some flexibility to divide up the space into multiple rooms as there are now collapsible walls. As far as using the space for monthly meetings it is pretty well-set-up tables and chairs are available there is a kitchen facility at an additional charge.
